Stephen Rafe (pronounced RAY-fee) has provided counseling and coaching for clients in all aspects of behavior-based communication (speaking, interviewing, writing, and non-verbals) for more than 25 years.
His clients for message development and delivery have included Johnson & Johnson during the Tylenol™ Crisis, NASA for the space program, AT&T during its divestiture, Dresser Industries during the Soviet pipeline crisis, Dow for the dioxin issue, and President Reagan's Committee on Strategic Forces for the MX missile debates. He is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Virginia and an adjunct professor at Stratford University.
Harper-Business has published three books of his books on communications subjects and he is the principal author of The Executive's Guide to Successful Presentations (Briefings Publications, Pitman, NJ), the author of the monograph, Extremist Groups -- A new Perspective, and the developer of The Calm Music System™ --a recording that reduces stress and enhances learning. He has a monograph on volunteer leadership in progress.
He has addressed hundreds of regional, national and international gatherings, including the International Management Forum and the World Economic Council. He has also addressed several national conferences of the Public Relations Society of America and the International Association of Business Communicators, along with those of the Society of National Association Publishers, the American Society for Training and Development, the Society for Human Resource Professionals, and the American Society of Association Executives. He has also spoken at more than a dozen colleges and universities and he keynoted the 25th Anniversary Dr. Malcolm T. MacEachern Memorial Lecture sponsored by Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management for the American College of Hospital Administrators.
He has more than 200 by-lined articles published on communication subjects and has participated in nearly 200 radio and television interviews including one with Mike Wallace on 60 Minutes. He remains at the leading edge in such fields as behavior, psychology, and adult learning. He holds a B.S. degree and an M.S. degree and is pursuing a doctoral degree. His studies and research emphasize management, organizational development, change, leadership, teams, and verbal and non-verbal communication.
